~A STUDY FOUND THAT NEARLY HALF OF COVID 19 SUVIVORS MAY HAVE LONG COVID SYMPTOMS MONTHS AFTER THEY WERE FIRST INFECTED~
"Our study is important because it adds to our understanding of long-COVID in the general population, not just in those people who need to be #admitted to #hospital with COVID-19," lead author Jill Pell, a professor of public health at the University of Glasgow, said in a statement.
"By #comparing_symptoms with those #uninfected, we were able to distinguish between #health_problems that are due to COVID-19 and health problems that would have #happened_anyway," the statement continued.
Long COVID occurs when patients who have cleared the active infection still have symptoms lasting more than four weeks after recovering. In some cases, these symptoms can persist for months or even years.
Patients can experience a variety of lingering #symptoms including #fatigue, #difficulty_breathing, #headaches, #brain_fog, joint and #muscle_pain, and continued #loss of #taste and #smell, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The authors mentioned some limitations including that most of the #participants were #white because the study was conducted in #Scotland, which has a 96% #white_population.
"Therefore, it is important that ethnic-specific outcomes are reported by other long-COVID studies with more ethnically diverse populations," the authors wrote.
Additionally, some of the common symptoms were also reported among a control group who had never tested positive for COVID. The symptoms that were most strongly associated with COVID infection were breathlessness, chest pain, palpitations and loss of taste and smell.

A #Chinese company with links to #Beijing's #Military and #Intelligence Networks has been amassing a vast #database of #detailed personal information on thousands of #Australians, including prominent and influential figures.
One intelligence analyst said the #database was "#Cambridge_Analytica on #steroids", referring to the trove of personal information sourced from #Facebook_Profiles in the lead up to the 2016 #US_election campaign.
Information collected includes dates of birth, addresses, marital status, along with photographs, political associations, relatives and social media IDs.
It collates #Twitter, #Facebook, #LinkedIn, #Instagram and even #TikTok accounts, as well as news stories, criminal records and corporate misdemeanors.
While much of the information has been "#SCRAPED" from open-source material, some profiles have information which appears to have been sourced from #Confidential_Bank_Records, job applications and #psychological profiles.
The company is believed to have sourced some of its information from the so-called "#dark_web".
* 2.4 million names and profiles are on the database, including more than 35,000 Australians

One significant, positive development she identified is the coverage, in the Guardian, the Washington Post, and the Financial Times, of the Dark Age ideology behind eco-fascism, and how it is being used to create a green bonanza for otherwise bankrupt financiers.
These developments are part of an incredible process, which shows that the system is not working, and opens the prospect that growing numbers of people can be brought to see that the solution depends on the proliferation of scientific ideas and great culture -- and that is the basis of optimism.

'Not my King': Charles gets booed in Edinburgh; Protest reignites Scotland's independence debate
After the Queen's death, her eldest son, Charles, took over as King of the United Kingdom.
However, not everyone seems to be happy with their new monarch.
The Royal Proclamation of Charles as King was greeted with #LOUD_BOOING from #locals in #Scotland's Capital, Edinburgh.
But those boos were #drowned_out by chants of 'God Save The King' and a booming gun salute.
