#Good_Morning_World | #International_Tech_News | #Richard_Sackler, NEW #Patent | The #Man who made #Billions of Dollars from #OxyContin is #Pushing a #Drug to Wean Addicts Off Opioids | By Lindsey Bever September 8 at 7:00 AM | Following #hundreds of #lawsuits over the years against #Pharmaceutical Giant #Purdue_Pharma, Colorado’s attorney general is suing the OxyContin creator for its “significant role in causing the #opioid_epidemic.” The lawsuit claims Purdue Pharma L.P. and Purdue Pharma Inc. #deluded_doctors and #patients in Colorado about the potential for #addiction with prescription #opioids and #continued to #push the #drugs.
And it comes amid news that the company’s former chairman and president, #Richard_Sackler, has patented a new drug to help wean addicts from opioids. “Purdue’s #habit_forming medications coupled with their #reckless_marketing have #robbed_children of their #parents, #families of their #sons and #daughters, and #destroyed the #lives of our #friends, #neighbors, and #co_workers,” Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman said Thursday in a statement.
“While no amount of money can bring back loved ones, it can compensate for the enormous costs brought about by Purdue’s intentional misconduct.” [OxyContin and our opioid crisis: How the misleading marketing of one pain pill helped get America addicted]
The lawsuit states that Purdue Pharma “downplayed the risk of addiction associated with opioids,” “exaggerated the benefits” and “advised health care professionals that they were violating their Hippocratic Oath and failing their patients unless they treated pain symptoms with opioids,” according to the statement from the Colorado attorney general’s office.
But Purdue Pharma “vigorously” denied the accusations Friday..
In federal court in 2007, three top current and former employees for Purdue pleaded guilty to criminal charges, admitting that they had falsely led doctors and their patients to believe that OxyContin was less likely to be abused than other drugs in its class, according to the New York Times. Then earlier this year, the Wall Street Journal reported that Purdue planned to stop promoting the drug. Now, it seems, a new business venture is only adding to the outcry.
“We believe it is inappropriate for the state to substitute its judgment for the judgment of the regulatory, scientific and medical experts at FDA.” In 2016, there were more than 63,000 drug overdose deaths in United States, and more than 66 percent of them were attributed to opioids, according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC states that both illegal opioids and prescription opioids, which are commonly used to treat pain, have been associated with addiction, overdoses and death. Ok, on with the story.. Before Video cards where invented #Intel integrated their CPU chips with its video cards (#GPU). BIG MISTAKE BY #INTEL AND THE REASON they pushed themselves out of the MARKET. Now a #DEAD Company --just like Dinosaurs.. #IBM and #Microsoft --they all got nothing. They ALL LOST MARKET SHARE.
As time went on I tried many laptops and desktops. Spent years pulling my hair out bc NO laptop OR desktop could keep up with the processing power of MY HUMAN BRAIN. Many of those laptops and desktops ran on integrated CPU's W/ video cards at the time --until #Nvidia;)
Like Netflix.. I knew NVIDIA would become the Mammoth LONG before even Nvidia. I say that bc their case use at the time was for #Gaming_Laptops (a total dif breed of customers to market) It hadn't even crossed their minds that the golden egg was in fact #processing_chips and since Video ate up most of the CPU power it just made sense to separate the two.…
And why NVIDIA Lagged/Stalled in direction for years..

ALL integrated VIDEO Cards I tested FAILED in terms of processing power AND to add more insult to injury I could not UPGRADE THE VIDEO CARD because it was integrated with the #CPU. (BIG #RED FLAG)
and that is GOOD reason to stay away from #proprietary hardware!! Apple has just made the same enormous mistake INTEL did! imho.
ALSO, it would not matter EVEN IF I could UPGRADE to a more POWERFUL video card/GPU --SINCE they would RUN HOTTER and would #BURN_OUT the pre-existing CPU.
Then one day a friend of mine handed me #THINKPAD which had a #Dedicated_GPU #video_card i3 intel CPU.. in a laptop.. #BINGO!
THE MOMENT I started using it I could tell that I finally found a system that could keep up with the processing power and SPEED of mouse clicks and BRAIN interactions. Everything was faster by at least a 10 fold!!:):)
NVIDIA FINALLY got a clue when Bitcoin miners started stacking UP all their cards for powering BITCOIN calculations for mining rigs --which then spearheaded the chip race. AND THE #REAL #TRUTH.
Not that i am interested in a headset whatsoever; but if I was I would buy a headset with the Fastest CPU possible and then ADD a Dedicated Stand alone GPU Nividia card similar to ASUS. See video.. just released 2 days ago..
You are wasting your money.. WAIT for a headset that allows YOU TO #PLUGIN a #Dedicate_GPU to attach to the headset and you will be WAY ahead of the game --not to mention Saving a fortune in the long run --if saving money is your forte..'
