#Comcast - #Why They're #Hated | 1,383,675 views Feb 5, 2020 | Comcast is a cable and internet provider that happens to be one of the #most_hated companies out there. This video attempts to explain the #reason behind all this #hatred.

YOUTUBE COMMENTS: It's a #nightmare. When you tell them you are cancelling because you just don't want the service, that is an extremely difficult process. The ONLY way they make it easy on you is if you are cancelling because you're moving and they don't offer service in your new area. In my prior city, I had Comcast (about 10 years ago, and I had it for the previous four years). I had made the choice during that time to cancel and go with AT&T (before I even contemplated moving). However, I was offered a crazy low rate in exchange for a two year agreement, with a clause that there's no termination fee if I'm moving and they don't offer service in my area. I took the deal and did not go with AT&T. AT&T was far inferior in terms of speed but much better in terms of price. The problem is, Comcast was the only cable provider and if I wanted top speed, I needed to be with Comcast. So I did stay until I moved, and now I'm in an area with Cox. Cox has done the same thing as Comcast did to me previously (and did to you), slowly increase my rate. Then what Cox has done is offer a promotion to go to the next tier. They say hey, it's actually cheaper to go to the next tier with this promotion, but after six months your rate will be X. So I take it and even after six months I say heck with it I'm staying at this faster speed. Hell I just bought all this equipment to support the faster speed. But then the price of THAT package crept up, to the point where upgrading from 300 mbps to 1 gbps was an extra $13. And for that little difference, I mean what the hell. So now I'm at 1 gbps. I am getting that speed in fairness, but again my price has increased twice on that tier. And there's no alternative cable option. So now the difference is $21 per month for me to go back to 300 mbps. So it's this crazy cycle of pricing in such a way as to get you to the next tier, and then increasing your bill after you upgrade. I'm sick of it as well, and when there's a better option available at a similar price, I"m going for it for sure.

It said it would continue flying into New York’s John F. Kennedy airport, Los Angeles International and Washington Dulles.

“We are working closely with aircraft manufacturers and the relevant authorities to alleviate operational concerns, and we hope to resume our US services as soon as possible,” Emirates said in its statement.

Bowing to #pressure from #critics over its #handling of more than $500 #Billion in Coronavirus #Relief_Funds, the #Small_Business_Administration today released a #trove of #data about the recipients of loans from the Federal Paycheck Protection Program, including full #business_names and #addresses for companies that received loans of $150,000 or more.

The list was made public on the U.S. #Treasury’s website in a #downloadable spreadsheet along with a lengthy explanation about what viewers should—and should not—glean from the information.

The #World’s Most Powerful #Tidal_Turbine’ starts to #Export #Power to the #Grid | A tidal turbine weighing 680 metric tons and dubbed “the world’s most powerful” has started grid-connected power generation at the European #Marine_Energy Centre in #Orkney, an #archipelago located north of mainland #Scotland.

The news marks another major step forward for the U.K.’s nascent marine energy sector.

In an announcement Wednesday, Scottish engineering firm Orbital Marine Power explained how its 2 megawatt O2 turbine had been anchored in a body of water called the Fall of Warness, with a subsea cable linking it to a local electricity network on land.

It’s expected that the turbine, which is 74 meters long, will “operate in the waters off Orkney for the next 15 years,” the company said, and have “the capacity to meet the annual electricity demand of around 2,000 UK homes.”
