#Water, #sand and #chemicals?? are #injected into the #rock at high pressure which allows the returning gas to flow (FLUSHED) out to the head of the well. (#non_explosive)
The process can be carried out vertically or, more commonly, by #drilling_horizontally (amazing #robotic_technology is my guess here..) through the #rock_layer, which can create new pathways to #release_gas (FLUSH) or used to extend existing channels.
