YOUTUBE COMMENTS: It's a #nightmare. When you tell them you are cancelling because you just don't want the service, that is an extremely difficult process. The ONLY way they make it easy on you is if you are cancelling because you're moving and they don't offer service in your new area. In my prior city, I had Comcast (about 10 years ago, and I had it for the previous four years). I had made the choice during that time to cancel and go with AT&T (before I even contemplated moving). However, I was offered a crazy low rate in exchange for a two year agreement, with a clause that there's no termination fee if I'm moving and they don't offer service in my area. I took the deal and did not go with AT&T. AT&T was far inferior in terms of speed but much better in terms of price. The problem is, Comcast was the only cable provider and if I wanted top speed, I needed to be with Comcast. So I did stay until I moved, and now I'm in an area with Cox. Cox has done the same thing as Comcast did to me previously (and did to you), slowly increase my rate. Then what Cox has done is offer a promotion to go to the next tier. They say hey, it's actually cheaper to go to the next tier with this promotion, but after six months your rate will be X. So I take it and even after six months I say heck with it I'm staying at this faster speed. Hell I just bought all this equipment to support the faster speed. But then the price of THAT package crept up, to the point where upgrading from 300 mbps to 1 gbps was an extra $13. And for that little difference, I mean what the hell. So now I'm at 1 gbps. I am getting that speed in fairness, but again my price has increased twice on that tier. And there's no alternative cable option. So now the difference is $21 per month for me to go back to 300 mbps. So it's this crazy cycle of pricing in such a way as to get you to the next tier, and then increasing your bill after you upgrade. I'm sick of it as well, and when there's a better option available at a similar price, I"m going for it for sure.
