When Lieutenant Colonel George Custer arrived at the Little Bighorn, Chief Gall and the rest of his people had only a few hours' warning. So, when word of Custer’s arrival reached Sitting Bull’s camp, Gall was among the first to hear about it. He had no idea that this fight would be different. This was a day he’d be remembering and retelling for the rest of his life. Chief Gall was one of the first Native Americans to ever tell the story of the battle from their point of view, and what he had to say would rewrite the story of the Little Bighorn and Custer’s final moments.
