SHRANK an average of 69% over the last half-century, a report says

animal are , and we've got time to try to fix it.

That's the upshot of a new report from the and the of , which analyzed years of data on thousands of wildlife populations across the world and found a downward trend in the .

According to the , a metric that's been in existence for five decades, animal populations across the world shrunk by an average of 69% between 1970 and 2018.

Not all animal populations dwindled, and some parts of the world saw more drastic changes than others. But experts say the steep loss of biodiversity is a stark and worrying sign of what's to come for the natural world.

"The message is clear and the lights are flashing red," said WWF International Director General Marco Lambertini.

According to the report's authors, the main cause of biodiversity loss is land-use changes driven by human activity, such as infrastructure development, energy production and deforestation.

Climate change may become the leading cause of biodiversity loss
But the report suggests that climate change — which is already unleashing wide-ranging effects on plant and animal species globally — could become the leading cause of biodiversity loss if rising temperatures aren't limited to 1.5°C.

Lambertini said the intertwined crises of biodiversity loss and climate change are already responsible for a raft of problems for humans, including death and displacement from extreme weather, a lack of access to food and water and a spike in the spread of zoonotic diseases.

SLAPPED with a $19 million in for not selling with a charger

Apple keeps on court battles in Brazil over its decision to stop shipping iPhones with a charger. The São Paulo state court has ruled against the tech giant and slapped it with a 100 million real ($19 million) fine in a lawsuit filed by the Brazilian Consumers' Association, a group of borrowers, consumers and taxpayers. In addition, the court has ordered Apple to supply all customers in Brazil who purchased the iPhone 12 or 13 over the past couple of years with a charger, as well as to start including them with all new purchases. Apple, as you'd expect, told the news organization that it will appeal the decision.

According to Barron's, the judge in charge of the case called the non-inclusion of chargers in phone purchases an "abusive practice" that "requires consumers to purchase a second product in order for the first to work." Apple has been at odds with Brazilian authorities over the issue for a while now. In 2021, São Paulo consumer protection agency Procon-SP fined Apple around $2 million for removing the power adapter from the iPhone 12, telling the company that it was in violation of Brazil's Consumer Defense Code.

This September, the country's Ministry of Justice issued an order that bans Apple from selling iPhones that don't come with a charger. It also fined the company another $2.38 million and ordered the cancelation of iPhone 12's registration with Brazil's national telecoms agency. The tech giant is also appealing that decision.

5.3 billion to become in 2022: report

More than five billion of the estimated 16 billion possessed worldwide will likely be discarded or stashed away in 2022, experts said Thursday, calling for more of the often they contain.

Stacked flat on top of each other, that many disused phones would rise 50,000 kilometers (30,000 miles), more than a hundred times higher than the International Space Station, the WEEE research consortium found.

Despite containing valuable gold, copper, silver, palladium and other recyclable components, almost all these unwanted devices will be hoarded, dumped or incinerated, causing significant health and environmental harm.

"Smartphones are one of the electronic products of highest concern for us," said Pascal Leroy, Director General of the WEEE Forum, a not-for-profit association representing forty-six producer responsibility organizations.

"If we don't recycle the rare materials they contain, we'll have to mine them in countries like China or Congo," Leroy told AFP.

Defunct cell phones are just the tip of the 44.48-million-ton iceberg of global electronic waste generated annually that isn't recycled, according to the 2020 global e-waste monitor.

Many of the five billion phones withdrawn from circulation will be hoarded rather than dumped in the trash, according to a survey in six European countries from June to September 2022.

This happens when households and businesses forget cell phones in drawers, closets, cupboards or garages rather than bringing them in for repair or recycling.

Up to five kilos (8 pounds) of e-devices per person are currently hoarded in the average European family, the report found.

According to the new findings, 46 percent of the 8,775 households surveyed considered potential future use as the main reason for hoarding small electrical and electronic equipment.

Another 15 percent stockpile their gadgets with the intention to sell them or giving them away, while 13 percent keep them due to "sentimental value".

Societal challenge

"People tend not to realize that all these seemingly insignificant items have a lot of value, and together at a global level represent massive volumes," said Pascal Leroy.

"But e-waste will never be collected voluntarily because of the high cost. That is why legislation is essential."

This month the EU parliament passed a new law requiring USB-C to be the single charger standard for all new smartphones, tablets and cameras from late 2024.

U.S. soldiers using Microsoft’s new goggles in their latest field test SUFFERED “mission-affecting physical ” including , and , according to a summary of the exercise compiled by the Pentagon’s testing office.

More than 80% of those who experienced had symptoms after less than three hours using the customized version of Microsoft’s HoloLens , Nickolas Guertin, director of Operation Test and Evaluation, said in a summary for Army and Defense Department officials. He said the system also is still experiencing too many of .

The problems found in the testing in May and June were outlined in a 79-page report this month. The Army marked it “Controlled Unclassified Information” to prevent public distribution, but Bloomberg News obtained a summary.

Despite the device’s , Guertin doesn’t deem it a lost cause. He recommended that the Army “prioritize improvements” before widespread deployment to reduce the “physical discomfort of users.” He said improvements are also needed to the goggle’s low-light sensors, display clarity, field of vision and poor reliability of some essential functions.

The latest model’s reliability has improved for a key metric — the mean time between failures that render the whole system inoperable, according to the report. Leaders and soldiers also reported that the latest version “enhanced navigation and coordination of unit movements,” Guertin wrote.

Microsoft’s Integrated Visual Augmentation System, or IVAS, is expected to provide a “heads-up display” for U.S. ground forces, similar to those for fighter pilots. It would let commanders project information onto a visor in front of a soldier’s face and would include features such as night vision. The Army projects spending as much as $21.9 billion over a decade on the goggles, spare parts and support services if all options are exercised.

The test results will be closely assessed by lawmakers as they decide whether to approve $424.2 million the Army proposed to spend on the program this fiscal year. The House and Senate appropriations panels separately proposed deep cuts to the Army’s request pending the outcome of the testing.

One finding that may give members of Congress pause: Acceptance of the goggles by soldiers “remains low” and they and their leaders indicated they don’t “contribute to their ability to complete their mission.” The exercise represented the fifth “Soldier Touch point” test of the system, a widely praised Army initiative to get soldiers’ feedback early in the acquisition process.

Microsoft, which wasn’t given a copy of the test results, said in a statement that “our close collaboration with the Army has enabled us to quickly build” and modify the device “to develop a transformational platform that will deliver enhanced soldier safety and effectiveness. We are moving forward with the production and delivery of the initial set” of devices.

Now In | California Legalizes Digital License Plates, With $1,100 Price Tag

Californias roads just got a little smarter with the passage of a bill that paves the way for the sale of digital license plates across the state.

The technology allows for emergency messaging like marking the car stolen or indicating an Amber Alert, and can be personalized through an app with touts like Go Warriors or Go Lakers to cheer on the local sports teams. The pesky task of car registration also will become easier with DMV auto-renewals, eliminating the need for registration cards and stickers.

Judas Priest - Breaking The Law (Official Music Video)

Predictions of the Future..??

You guys want genuine predictions of the future HUH??

..but what you are REALLY saying is that you NEED genuine predictions to fit into the USA Government Agenda??

SORRY You cannot have BOTH. The days of having your cake and eat it too??

ARE YOU GIRLS?? DO WE NEED TO DRESS YOU UP LIKE LITTLE GIRLS??

NEWS FLASH. THAT'S NOT GENUINE? Is it?

IN FACT, YOU ALL DO NOT LISTEN AND THAT IS ONE OF YOUR MANY MANY MAJOR PROBLEMS.

Your hard headed, stubborn and you know NOTHING.

A recipe for disaster.

YOU DO NOT LISTEN TO THE ONES WHO KNOW!

So listen UP or face in future. !

12 years ago we predicted all. Currently MOST cant even tie their shoes and they are in leadership roles??

ALL NEED TO BE FIRED ASAP

DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICANS (BOTH IN THE HOUSE AND THE SENATE)
THE FEDERAL RESERVE
THE SUPREME COURT

All Institutions need to be AND !

YOU ARE ALL !!

??

* World Wide Central Bank Crashes

* All USA Stock Markets Flash Crashes

* All Big Tech Markets Crashes and Theft (ANTITRUST VIOLATIONS)

* All Real Estate Markets Crashed (150% ABOVE MARKET)

* All Taiwan supply chains Crashes ( china owns Taiwan not the GREEDY American Institutions that have OUR COUNTRY)

* All Medical Doctors (MD) no longer recognized as licensed professionals (PROOF?? 1 Million COVID USA Deaths)

* All Brick and Mortar Companies CRASHING (home depot, lowes, targets etc.)

* NOW FOOD SHORTAGES (Grains) in the midst??

? NOW ALL OIL COMPANIES ARE THE ONES IN CONTROL OF THE USA ECONOMY ( cutting supply).. UGH! Happy Now??

WHY? OPEC sees American in the and coming in for the Final KILL! The writing is on the wall..

If you forgot? they still practice in Saudi Arabia..

All of you in Government and Main Stream Media are UNFIT TO RUN OR GOVERN ANYTHING imho

YOU ARE ALL FIRED! There is the back door don’t let it hit you in the ass on the way out!

here is why.

I have spent the better part of my life in USA financing (mortgages 12 years) (real estate 17 years) (internet 25 years)

You mention bending the rules (to make them fit??)

IMPORTANT: To become successful W/ HONOR and DIGNATY in an Honest way; you cannot BREAK any rules or laws.

That is called FOR THE GOOD OF all!
(aka Self Control) which is IN AMERICAN CULTURE TODAY!

AND That's what separates the boys from the men and the girls from the Women.

Not breaking any rules or laws in finance is an within itself and requires to be successful.

Anyone can break laws and why we have laws in the first place; for those who cannot follow rules and regulations.

They are from the of our and they DO NOT CARE!

A Sentence back in the day for such atrocities = !

YES now you are concerned with the FEDS breaking what they already broke before.

That Is a viable concern.

In over 40 years as a Business Professional in the USA I can honestly say I have never seen SO MANY CROOKS ‘in one country’ (USA)-- in my life.

I have met many in finance, real-estate, stock markets etc., over many years.

One thing they all had in common is that they would bend the until it . And then patted each other on the shoulders for being… ummm WISE?? Ugh!

Right in front of my very eyes.. (forgeries and many other manipulations of legal instruments)

No matter how hard they tried not to BREAK the ruler they continued to bend that ruler until it broke.

Licensed financiers INCAPABLE OF DOING WHAT IS RIGHT --NEVER GETTING CAUGHT OR GOING TO JAIL??

And that's Folks.

Yes Criminal Activity in the last 40 years, in this country has NOW become ACCEPTABLE AND NORMAL??

YES! Americans have been successful at a 1000's pre-meditated ways of Breaking the Law !

They all talk the talk .. but in reality they have ZERO intelligence.

That said in the past I was a mortgage broker for over 12 years. I would do residential loans for many folks in Florida called "PROBLEM CHILD'S"

Basically I specialized in B, C, and D Residential Home Loans.

The most difficult loans to get approvals for btw and why I per-underwrote all of my loans as a qualified UNDERWRITER before Submission to Institutionalized underwriters. (garnished a 100% Approval rating;)

I was a Correspondent lender nationwide in the USA for 12 years. Its how I found the Internet in 1999, but that is another story that you may find very interesting in the future.

Stay tuned;)

Fanny Mae/Freedy Mac are lay-down loans for me. Perfect credit-- no brainer loans.

My 2 year old son at the time could do them.

For me I loved the challenge and the reward of helping someone with poor credit based on past mistake and then helping clients correct those mistakes in order to get good financing as a first time home-buyer. (Basically, A NEW or FIRST START in Life:)

You see, no one needs to break laws or rules. They just need to WORK HARD for their money. Not Steal it bc they are too LAZY or too DUMB to find a viable or LEGAL SOLUTION!

try make SQUARE PEGS FIT INTO ROUND WHOLES... it's their NATURE.

We would BEND the ruler as far as we COULD BECAUSE WE KNEW WHEN IT WOULD BREAK!

HELLO??

BUT BREAKING THE RULER IN HALF = !! ;)

BREAKING RULERS IN HALF IS CALLED BREAKING THE LAW BOYS AND GIRLS AND YOU WILL BE ARRESTED AND YOU WILL GO TO PRISON.

The NEW and/or that has permeated into American Society and culture because their illegal deeds that many have turned a blind eye too has now PUSHED all of us into the ;

.. THEY MUST BE .
